The Good Book

All of a sudden there’s so much going on at Disco Farm that I’m running around like a chicken with my head cut off (unfortunately, my chickens still have heads and are still running around, but that’s not what this post is about).

First, I was commissioned last week to write a book for Penguin Books, which is very exciting. It’s also super-scary, because the manuscript is due in April. That’s this April. As in two short months away. That gives me about a third of the time I’d like to create a polished manuscript.

Add to that that I have several visitors coming and two trips on the horizon that will majorly eat into my writing time. I committed to them long ago so can’t – and don’t want to – put them off, but it is going to mean time is even more tight, so for the foreseeable future, I will be head down, bum up and padlocked to my keyboard any second I can be. A bit like this:

Hard at work.

I can’t say too much about the book, but I can tell you it is not about Disco Farm or me, but it does utilize some of the new skills I’ve learnt since I’ve been here. Sorry to be so evasive, but I promise I’ll reveal all as soon as I’m allowed. And, I’ll keep you updated on progress on the book and everything else at Disco Farm – but just not every day. Unfortunately it’s not possible with so much other writing to get done, a garden to tend to and half a dozen demented fowl. Speaking of which, I’d better get back to work!
