The Littlest Hobo

Remember this guy?

Every stop I make, I make a new friend.

I sort of feel like him at the moment: traveling on, with no fixed abode, my belongings tied up in a kerchief on a stick (that last bit’s not true, but you get what I mean). Why? Because more big changes are afoot in the life of Kiwi. Apple. Kiwi. I’ll explain all soon, but basically, thanks to my time at home and all sorts of other things, some opportunities have come up that I’m going to take. It means I’m in limbo for a wee while here in New York, so I haven’t found a new apartment. Instead, I’ve been staying with family. Tomorrow, I’m moving on again, to a sublet apartment for a few weeks; then on to friends for a few weeks. It’s a bit weird – to still be living out of a suitcase, and to not really unpack, to not really have my own space – but it’s lovely too because I get to spend lots of time with whomever I’m staying with. And to experience different areas of the city like a visitor rather than a native. And to be free of any real responsibility for a while. I’m sure come September I’ll be sick of it, but for now it’s a nice respite from being an adult.

Sounds exciting to have some opportunities! A bit of sofa-surfing never hurt.

I love the Littlest Hobo advert – who knew that it was billed as an ‘adult action series’?! In the UK it was definitely a kids programme….

    • Yes, it was in NZ too Gareth. Although I was always a bit traumatized by him being on his own so maybe it was adult content, especially when it cam to neurotic kids! x
